Red

Red came to us a bit pudgy at 48 pounds, but with daily walks and high-quality food, he’s down a few pounds.

He didn’t have much exposure to a leash in his previous home, so he came to us bewildered by the concept of leash walking. To be honest, it scared him.

You’ll never meet a more gentle, more loving guy than our boy Red. This 8-year-old beagle mix will look at you with his soul-searching gaze, and you will fall in love in an instant.

Red is wonderful in so many ways — housetrained, good with other dogs, a calm and gentle temperament. He’ll even reach out his paw to signal he wants your pets. It’s heart-melting.

Red spent all of his life in one home with many dogs, and he was understandably fearful of a world he had not quite figured out yet.

One of our volunteers committed to working one on one with Red and desensitized him to the concept of having a leash on him, and he now enjoys his daily walks with many of our volunteers.

Red has come a long way — but what could be sweeter than knowing this gentle and loyal companion conquered his fear? He’ll still need a patient adopter who can commit to continuing the progress of our wonderful volunteer.
