Orientation Coordinator needed
Position reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Position Summary
The Orientation Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and training of new FLPS volunteers.
Time periods when assistance is needed
- Various times throughout the week for new volunteer application review, orientation scheduling and new volunteer activation in database
- Attendance at monthly new volunteer orientation
- Attendance at monthly volunteer committee meeting the second Wednesday of every month
Responsibilities
- Reviews incoming volunteer applications in volunteer database
- Conducts high level background checks on applicants
- Responds or coordinates the response to applicants via volunteer Gmail account to invite them to the next monthly orientation
- Conducts or coordinates the conduct of the monthly new volunteer orientation on the third Saturday of every month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Sends communication including the location of the sanctuary to confirmed orientation attendees
- Discusses and gathers interest from new volunteers regarding opportunities in the various areas of FLPS
- Coordinates mentoring sessions between new volunteers and existing volunteers, communicating with FLPS Directors for mentoring in their areas of specialty
Qualifications
- Must be an adult FLPS volunteer
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Must have experience administering databases
- Must be comfortable interacting with volunteers
- Must be comfortable leading orientation classes
- Must have a computer
- Complete volunteer orientation and a mentoring session
Physical demands
- Frequent sitting and typing on a computer
- Walking, standing, sitting, bending or stooping when conducting orientation
