Bonnie Gordon has over 30 years of experience as an award winning “marketer, health care advocate and creative inspirer”. As a 20+ year breast cancer survivor, her passion is design and connect non-profits and for profits to create strategic partnerships in the Environmental, Social and
Governance in sustainability and cause-marketing arenas. In her 19+ years at Walgreens, Bonnie held several leadership roles, including marketing, tv and print production, media services and strategies as well as her final role as Walgreens Director of Cause Marketing.
Her Walgreens accomplishments include focusing on key strategic alliances and programming such as:
§ Bringing cause marketing to Walgreens via the development and implementation of the 4-year $100MM Walgreens Way to Well Commitment platform focused on prevention and early detection of today’s leading chronic diseases.
§ Strategic Walgreens alliances with the American Diabetes Association (ADA), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), American Heart Association (AHA), American Cancer Society (ACS) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Implementation of the register pin pad program which raised over $50M in customer donations.
§ The Walk with Walgreens (STEPS with Balance Rewards) healthy living rewards program, winner of Halo, Effie and Reggie Awards with 1MM+ members and over 9B steps logged. The program has been featured on The Biggest Loser.
§ Developed the key health and wellness program for Walgreens first Loyalty Program, securing 100+MM members, providing online content and programming with in-store rewards via STEPs with Balance Rewards.
§ The Walgreens Way to Well Health Tour – a multi-vehicle mobile marketing tour providing $60 Million worth of FREE health screenings throughout the US and Puerto Rico resulting in a close to 70% out of range outcome for hypertension and total cholesterol, 25% out of range results for diabetes.
§ FREE Diabetes screenings in conjunction with Dr. Oz and Oprah resulting in 140,000 blood glucose screenings in Walgreens stores nationwide.
§ Provided creative and thought leadership to cross-functional teams for several successful national online, social, and in-store cause marketing efforts including the most successful Arm Yourself Flu Campaign in Walgreens history.
§ Instrumental in creating and implementing Walgreens + Vitamin Angels first Chicago pilot to provide free prenatal vitamins and nutritional education for women living in marginalized communities on the south and west sides of Chicago and the program's expansion nationwide.
She served as the Public Relations Chair for the Chicago Chapter of the Network of Executive Women and President of the Board of Directors and CEO of Susan G. Komen Chicago. She mentors and teaches Cause Marketing as well as a speaker at many venues including Cause Marketing Forum. has received the Al Ward Humanitarian Award from the Good City Organization in Chicago and the Mission Possible Award from Ambassador Nancy Brinker, Founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
After being asked to step in as the Executive Director of Susan G. Komen, Chicago Affiliate to restructure the Affiliate for two years, Bonnie served as Director of the Walgreens and Supplier Relationship for Vitamin Angels, a non-profit that helps women and children in 65+ countries and all 50 states in the U.S. receive life-changing vitamins and nutritional education for 5 years.
Bonnie retired in 2023 to create Gordon Marketing Group to consult with NGOs to reinvent and reimagine their strategic growth opportunities.
Currently she serves on the Board of Directors for Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary and Imerman Angels, Cancer support, organizations. She volunteers as a First Tee Coach at Papago and TPC Golf courses, teaching kids golf fundamentals and learn how to be the best versions of themselves.
