Why rescue an older dog?

Many people automatically think of a puppy when they think of adopting a new pet. But puppies demand patience and energy, and older dogs can be just as cute, lovable, and loyal.

Senior pups are not necessarily “problem dogs” —  humans may have let them down, not the other way around. Typically, older dogs are:

  • Calmer (less stress when getting a new pet!)
  • Comfortable with basic commands and walking on a leash
  • Housetrained!
  • Accustomed to routines
  • Unlikely to develop new, bad habits
