FAQ

Where is FLPS located?
Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary is located in North Scottsdale, near the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard. As the sanctuary is on the property of a private residence, with a dedicated entrance and walkway, we do not have public visiting hours and do not share the exact address publicly. Volunteers and approved visitors will receive directions once their visit is scheduled.

What is the size and capacity of the physical sanctuary?
Our sanctuary features 5 kennel suites, each with indoor and outdoor runs, as well as a play yard. We typically house 5–9 dogs on-site at a time, while an additional 40 dogs are cared for in our network of foster homes.

What kinds of dogs do you take in?
Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary is dedicated to senior dogs, typically 7 years or older. We care for dogs of all sizes, though you’ll often see more small dogs, as they tend to find homes more quickly. Our focus is always on providing a loving, safe environment for those who need us most in their golden years.

What types of volunteer opportunities are available at FLPS?
FLPS offers a variety of roles, including dog walking, socializing, feeding, cleaning, adoption counselors, foster advocates, event assistance, transport, administrative support, photography, videography, grant writing, and more.

What is the minimum age requirement to volunteer?
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must also complete a volunteer application.

How many hours per month am I expected to volunteer?
We ask a minimum commitment of 6 hours per month to ensure consistency and support for our senior dogs.

Can I complete my court-ordered community service hours at FLPS?
Unfortunately we are not able to provide opportunities to fulfill service hours at this time.

What kind of training will I receive?
FLPS provides training for all volunteer roles so you feel prepared, confident, and safe while supporting our dogs and operations.

Can I bring my own dog to FLPS?
For the safety and comfort of our senior dogs, we ask that volunteers and visitors do not bring personal pets to the sanctuary. Many of our dogs are adjusting to new environments or have special medical or behavioral needs, so keeping the sanctuary pet-free helps create a calm, safe space for them.

What tasks are involved in sanctuary volunteering?
Sanctuary volunteers play a vital role in caring for the animals and keeping the facility running smoothly. Tasks may include feeding, cleaning, walking, and socializing the dogs, as well as maintaining kennels and play yards, doing laundry, washing dishes, and assisting with general upkeep of the sanctuary. Volunteers may also help with enrichment activities to keep the dogs engaged and happy, and support staff with other daily needs as they arise.

How do I get started?
To begin volunteering, simply complete the volunteer application form on the FLPS website. Once your application is received, our team will contact you for next steps.
