Senior Snuggles

Senior dogs bringing joy to senior friends.

At Forever Loved Pet Sanctuary, enrichment is an important part of giving our senior dogs more good days while they wait for their forever homes. Our Senior Snuggles program gives them a chance to get out of the Sanctuary, enjoy some extra attention, and make a few new friends along the way.

Through our partnership with Sunrise Senior Living, FLPS volunteers bring a Sanctuary dog or two to visit with Sunrise residents twice each month. Our dogs get a change of scenery, lots of love and attention, and a fun adventure outside their normal routine. For the residents, it’s a chance to spend time with some four-legged visitors and enjoy all the smiles, memories, conversation, and companionship that dogs have a way of bringing.

And, of course, there are plenty of snuggles!

How it works

Senior Snuggles is available to current FLPS volunteers. Volunteers sign up for an available shift, pick up their assigned dog from the Sanctuary, take them to Sunrise Senior Living for the scheduled visit, and return them afterward.

Our team selects dogs who will be comfortable in the environment and enjoy meeting new people. Just like our Field Trip program, Senior Snuggles gives volunteers another way to spend meaningful time with our dogs while helping us learn more about how they do outside of the Sanctuary.

Why senior snuggles?

For a senior dog waiting for a home, even a couple of hours away from the Sanctuary can make a difference. A car ride, new sights and smells, one-on-one attention, and lots of love provide wonderful enrichment—and a nice break from the everyday routine.

And our dogs get to do something they're naturally pretty good at: making people smile.
