Phoenix was adopted at age 2 from a local rescue group. Unfortunately, his owner unexpectedly passed away which has caused Phoenix to be shuffled around in emergency placements a few times.

If you are looking for a new BFF that will never leave your side, who will stare at you lovingly for hours at a time given the chance and that will wag his tail and come running to you as soon as he sees you.....then look no further because Phoenix is the dog BFF you have been looking for!

Phoenix was a bit shy and a tad confused at first but it took him only a short period of time until his loving personality shone through.

Phoenix is great on a leash and LOVES his morning walks with his foster parents' other dogs. He's dog door trained and will sit and stay-ish on command.

Phoenix is a 7 year old lab mix.   For five years he was the constant companion to a partially disabled man who lived by himself with no other animals.  Phoenix immediately gravitates to men and trucks but loves women too.

He is about 75 lbs and on a diet.  He has never been around kids but everything indicates he would be good with kids but probably kids over 7 since he is a heavy cuddly boy who runs like a hippo.

He ignores other dogs on leash and does not pull. He does well with the large female dog (even when she was really mean to him), the medium sized female dog and small male dog in his foster house. He has not been in sight of a cat but he ignores any cat sounds from upstairs.

He is learning how to have a proper boundary with a giant nosey unneutered St. Bernard.

He whines loudly when separated from his people for the first 10 minutes but has done well when left alone for 4-5 hours in the day and overnight in a separate room.
