“Milagro” is the Spanish word for “Miracle,” and we are certain that sweet 8-year-old Stacy has already experienced a couple of her own. Imagine wandering the streets alone of a hot, dusty town on the Mexico/US border, not only blind, but with an enormous growth protruding from your forehead. That is the heartbreaking predicament Stacy found herself in until “Miracle Number 1” occurred when a kind police officer found her and drove her to our shelter partner in southwestern Arizona. They reached out to us to see if we had the resources to help her. Our amazing veterinarian agreed to give it a shot and was able to remove the mass in its entirety! Then came “Miracle Number 2”: the huge mass was totally BENIGN!
Stacy is now ready for a fresh future and she has started by winning over all of our hearts at FLPS. Stacy has emerged as a beautiful social butterfly, loving all humans and other dogs, showing a playful side, and proudly showing off her A+ potty skills. Snuggling with you might be her favorite activity though! Additionally, this confident pup has adapted amazingly well to blindness and actually fools us into thinking she can see much better than she does!
Stories like Stacy’s are at the very heart of rescue. A little dog who endured such suffering but miraculously defied the odds is now looking forward to the loving family we know is waiting for her.
